About Ground Level Innovations
Our goal is to make high quality, durable machines that last.
Invented on the Visser farm
The patented EZ Down was invented on the Visser farm on Prince Edward Island by owner Randy Visser and millwright Lloyd Martin. They needed a better way to fill tote boxes with sorted potatoes from an upper level of a pack shed. The goal was continuous flow and gentle handling, all within a small footprint.
Lloyd built a prototype from their ideas as a proof of concept, and it worked on the first try.

From there, the box filler went through several versions to refine how it performed. Other uses soon turned up, and filling tote bags was a natural next step.
The machines worked so well that Randy and Lloyd felt they should be shared with others in the industry looking for the same thing. That is how Ground Level Innovations started. More design changes and testing followed, and the result was a reliable machine ready to sell.
The EZ Down’s extendable chamber design is patented in Canada (patent CA 2921722, granted March 10, 2020), with Randall R. Visser and Lloyd A. Martin named as the inventors.
